The F80 Gunraid is a mobile suit in the F8 series, developed as a prototype for adapting the F90 into a general-purpose mass-produced machine.
Its design was handled by S.N.R.I.'s N.M.S.D. Lab, while its production was undertaken by Zimmad Co.
Drawing on operational data from the already-deployed F90, the frame was designed to allow the hardpoints to form joints with nearly every F90 mission pack.
In addition to the standard-issued beam rifle, beam saber, and Vulcan cannons, its loadout includes optional artillery such as a triple machine cannon, beam cannons, and a hyper bazooka.
Originally, it was designed to serve as the successor to the RGM-109 Heavygun, the EFF's main mobile suit.
Three of the F80s produced were operated by the Death Guns, a mercenary trio serving the EFF's Jupiter Division, during the assault on Olympus Base in the First Oldsmobile War that broke out on Mars in U.C. 0121.
Each of the trio's mobile suits was outfitted with an anti-beam mantle and equipped with an O-, G-, or Q-type mission pack. By leveraging combination attacks, they closed the gaps in performance between their three machines and the Gundam F90 used by the Mars Independent Zeon Forces.
