Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
C.E. 73 -Stargazer-
- Stargazer
-
A planetary exploration mobile suit belonging to the Deep Space Survey and Development Organization (DSSD).
DSSD is a joint venture between PLANT, the Earth Alliance, and the neutral nation blocs.
The Stargazer Plan aimed to survey orbital regions beyond Mars, and this was a non-combat machine developed as part of that.
The ring structure affixed to its back catches solar winds and converts them for propulsion, known as the Voiture Lumiere system, granting it semi-permanent acceleration.
It has a self-interactive double-row distributed processing AI unit and micromachinery technology for self-repair that automatically handles all its maintenance, making it a unit designed to be deployed unmanned.
When DSSD's Troya Station came under attack by the Earth Alliance special forces unit Phantom Pain, Selene McGriff and Sol Lyne Lange piloted this unit to fight them.
It lacks any dedicated weapons since it was not intended for combat, but when the Voiture Lumiere activates, it is capable of using the ring-shaped beam formed around itself as a blade.

- About Selene McGriff
An engineer affiliated with the Deep Space Survey and Development Organization (DSSD).
Selene is a Coordinator working on the development of a mobile suit for planetary exploration, and a core member of the Stargazer Project, whose goal is to explore beyond Mars' orbit.
Though calm, collected, and a quick decision-maker, Selene will stop at nothing to make her dream of colonizing space a reality, and frequently loses sight of her surroundings in pursuit of her goals.
She worked on development of the planetary exploration mobile suit that would come to be known as the Stargazer at the Fortaleza R&D Center in South America.
However, environmental damage from the ""Break the World"" incident led her to flee to space.
From there, she continued development at the DSSD's space-based Troya Station, where she eventually sortied in the Stargazer herself during an attack by the Earth Alliance Phantom Pain special forces unit.

Sol lost his parents at a young age, and was taken in by his uncle, Edmond Du Clos.
He has something of a sibling relationship with Selene McGriff, who also lost her parents.
