Mobile Suit Gundam
Unicorn
- Unicorn Gundam
(Destroy Mode) (EX) -
The prototype Unicorn Gundam, secretly developed for the Federation Forces by Anaheim Electronics, features a system called NT-D which expands the inner frame of the mobile suit, transforming the machine itself.
At the same time, the joints of the armor slide open to reveal the psycho-frame beneath, giving it a vastly different appearance from its so-called Unicorn Mode.
In terms of performance, this mode grants many improvements, with an emphasis on mobility.
Because the psycho-frame built into the whole of the machine reads the pilot's psycho-waves and makes it possible for them to control the machine by thought alone, it's not a stretch to say that this machine features the ultimate in MS response.
On the other hand, the G-forces place a heavy burden on the pilot that, when combined with the inherent danger psycommu poses to the brain, limits the operation time while in this state to approximately five minutes.
Along with the Destroy Mode transformation, the psycho-frame in the shield expands into an X-shape, exposing a beam-deflecting I-Field generator and boosting its defenses.
However, this form only activates automatically when certain conditions are met, and cannot be activated at the pilot's discretion. The specific conditions remain a mystery.
Because the transformation process instantly affects the whole machine, pilots who have faced it and experienced the overwhelming psychological effects describe the suit's change as more of a metamorphosis than a transformation.
